For Every 100 Recyclable Items Collected FundingFactory will Donate $1 to Second Harvest Food Bank with goal for raising more than $3,000

ERIE, Pa. (Nov. 1, 2012)— In recognition of America Recycles Day, FundingFactory, the nation's largest fundraising by recycling program, is sponsoring the "Care2Collect Just 1" campaign to help schools, nonprofits and businesses in protecting the environment while supporting their local communities. Participants are encouraged to simply recycle one e-waste item, such as a printer cartridge or cell phone, through FundingFactory, and to donate one non-perishable food item to their local food bank. FundingFactory will donate $1 for every 100 qualifying recyclables it receives during the month of November to Second Harvest Food Bank.

In addition to inspiring local food drives, FundingFactory hopes to raise awareness for America Recycles Day on November 15. The free recycling fundraiser aims to collect and recycle more than 300,000 recyclables by the end of November.

"This year for America Recycles Day, we wanted to show that even the smallest act can have a significant impact," said Sean Michaels, president of FundingFactory. "If every participant nationwide donates just one can and one cartridge, we will be able to make a significant donation to Second Harvest Food Bank and local food banks across the country, while preventing thousands of pounds of harmful e-waste from being discarded into landfills."

FundingFactory enables schools and nonprofit organizations to recycle used printer cartridges, cell phones and other small electronics to earn cash or points redeemable for new technology and other equipment, while protecting the environment and building awareness of environmental stewardship. Businesses also can participate for free to collect and donate recyclables on behalf of participants.

"Since we are devoted to educating others about the benefits of e-waste recycling and motivating others to recycle year-round, it's great to take a day to focus on sustained recycling efforts throughout the United States."
